Kaolin application in Adhesives Industries
kaolins are used in adhesive, caulk and sealant systems to control structure, consistency and body. Kaolin is a hydrated aluminum silicate crystalline mineral characterized by its fine particle shape and chemical inertness.
Calcined kaolin is an anhydrous aluminum silicate produced by controlled heating a fine natural kaolin to high temperatures. This calcination process gives an increase in whiteness and hardness and modifies the particle shape. Calcined kaolins are used in adhesive, caulk and sealant systems that require low moisture and a desired consistency.
